Twitter update #touchedbyTSA after pat down for free iPod Touch

A totally free iPad Touch is the prize for Thanskgiving air vacationers willing to be #touchedbyTSA . People traveling on Nov. 23 become eligible when they refuse a full body scan and share having their body searched manually with the hashtag #touchedbyTSA. Pre-flight screening process is unlikely to be impacted by #touchedbyTSA, in light of the TSA’s firm stance on doing every little thing possible to eliminate the danger of airline terrorism. Choices of a full body scan or #touchedbyTSA

Everyone is really mad about the full body scanners that show a naked body of a person as they go via them which is what the #touchedbyTSA promotion is playing on. People who refuse to walk through the scanners have to submit to a manual body search or leave the airport. On Nov. 23, the busiest day at airports during the Thanksgiving holiday, perhaps many air travelers who would have normally acquiesced to a full body scan will opt for the manual body search, simply for the opportunity to win a free iPod Touch via #touchedbyTSA.

The problem with #touchedbyTSA

The TSA is likely angry. The #touchedbyTSA plan will probably make that worse. Hidden weapons and devices under clothing are best found with full body scanners. Yet because all a person has to do is stand in them for a few seconds, they accelerate the screening process and make passenger flow via airports more efficient. November 23 is going to be an extremely busy and difficult day for TSA to get through considering security is going to be backed up a lot. The National Opt-Out of Airport Scanners Day and #touchedbyTSA promotion could be the reason for this. The grass roots group 'We Won't Fly' has started the protest for National Opt-Out of Airport Scanners Day in order to protest the full body scanners getting used.

TSA disappointment with protests

TSA head John Pistole isn't going to change anything despite the fact that everyone has been really mad at the TSA lately. Earlier this week he told a Senate hearing that in the efforts to stay ahead of the airline terrorism threat, the TSA is seeking a proper mix between passengers’ rights and safeguarding them. He said his priority was that each passenger is secure on each and every flight. He hopes air travelers are willing to “work together” with the TSA toward that goal.
