Fair Game film relives betrayal of CIA operative Plame

A syndicated columnist in bed with the Bush administration blew the cover of CIA agent Valerie Plame in 2003. Plame’s cover was blown by the office of V.P. Cheney in retaliation for her husband going on the record to discredit evidence used to explain starting the Iraq War to the public. A film called "Fair Game" re-enacting the "Plamegate" scandal opens Friday.

'Fair Game' has Plame

"Fair Game" is the story of Valerie Plame's Central Intelligence Agency career falling apart. This only took place because her identity had been revealed by journalist Robert Novak. Plamegate all begun with a mission Plame's husband had to go on to determine if Iraq had been, as the White House claimed, getting nuclear material from Niger. Joe Wilson, a former United States of America ambassador, had been her husband. There was not anything found by Wilson. This lead him to write the article "What I did not discover in Africa" within the NY Times to go against the White House. The Bush administration wasn't telling the truth when giving reasoning for the Iraq War , which is what Wilson proves within the column. The reasoning, that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, was false.

Agent in Central Intelligence Agency tricked by Bush administration

The career of Central Intelligence Agency agent Plame had been wrecked by the Bush administration. This had been because they wanted Joe Wilson's credibility to be taken away. The whole thing had been meant to make it look like Joe Wilson's wife, as a CIA agent, got him the assignment even though he did not know what was going on. Someone on the White House staff, planting the seeds for that lie, revealed Plame’s identity to Novak, who published it instantly. At the time Plame was working undercover to combat nuclear proliferation. She and those in the company undercover were all exposed. This led the business being exposed as well.

Fault for Plamegate goes to Scooter Libby

It is illegal to tell somebody the identity of a Central Intelligence Agency operative. This is even truer when that operative is undercover. All of the Bush operatives said they did not leak the details on Valerie Plame. This includes Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Richard Armitage, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney. Eventually to protect his boss, Libby, Cheney’s chief of staff, took the fall. He had been fined $250,000 and sentenced to 30 months in prison on March 6, 2007. George W. Bush took action on July 2, 2007. Scooter Libby got a pardon. Some believe he had been pardoned so that he would keep his mouth shut. The truth with Valerie Plame isn't known still. It’s one large secret.
