The original model, the Intelligent ForTwo, started to become successful when gas prices were at $4 a gallon, according to USA Today. 24,000 of the brand sold in its first year within the United States This is quite good. However, plunging economic conditions led to slow sales. Since then, the company has been struggling to step units. The automobiles sold in the U.S. are manufactured by Daimler.

Decide to always make the customer right

Part of the trigger of lagging sales was customers wanted an auto with more seating. The V platform from Nissan can be used with the subcompact. Automotive News accounts that three different vehicles made in North American plants can be the basis of the vehicle. The smallest vehicle Nissan at the moment makes is the Versa, but the V platform can be smaller than the Versa, which will also switch to the new platform. The Smart car model coming out can be the smallest Nissan Motors vehicle. It will be smaller than the Versa.

This move is a Smart one

Part of the appeal of the Intelligent ForTwo is the car is really economical. It doesn’t cost much to put gas in. It also is pretty cheap to purchase upfront. Compacts and subcompacts are starting to sell really well. The Ford Motors Fiesta and many other models are becoming best sellers. More businesses should be looking into the market as it is selling well.
