Miami hostage scenario at Coral Gables Bank - Explosive device remains

In Florida this morning, a robber walked into Coral Gables Bank of America and took hostages. It is possible that there was a kidnapping associated with this Miami hostage scenario. Investigations to the connection could be ongoing. At approximately 11:42 this morning, Coral Gables police confirmed the last person was out of the financial institution and the Miami hostage scenario was over.

Thursday evening, there was a kidnapping connected to the Coral Gables Bank of America heist. The kidnapper forced the individual to strap a bomb to himself and go into Coral Gables Bank of America. At 8 a.m., officials were notified of the Miami-area hostage situation and started their response. Schools in the area were locked down during the Miami hostage situation. Transportation around the bank was also shut down.

There was a home attack in the Miami Nob Hill apartments Thurs. This home invasion may have been a kidnapping, and has been linked to the bank robbery. Police are on the lookout for two individuals driving a red Mustang. It was a Coral Gables Bank of America employee that was strapped to the bomb. Nobody is certain yet if those responsible for this crime actually entered the bank. There is not yet a word on if the Coral Gables Bank hostage was actually a robbery, or if there was some other motivation for the crimes.

Miami hostage scenario over, explosive device stays

The Miami-area Coral Gables Bank of America has confirmed that several individuals were held hostage during the situation. Just three and a half hours following the Miami hostage situation started, the last people had left the building. The bomb that had been strapped to an employee was evidently removed, because everybody left the building and the bomb was still inside. The explosive device squad and FBI stayed on the scene while the explosive device was diffused. Until the Miami hostage situation is clear, all schools and businesses around Coral Gables Bank remain locked down.
