Jennifer Mee, the “Hiccup Girl” who had been featured on nationwide media shows, has been arrested for homicide. Along with 2 other individuals, Mee allegedly robbed a guy and shot him to death. Jennifer Mee came to national prominence various years back as a result of weeks of continuous hiccups. She had been on “Today Show,” among others, and also was popular on the web for a while.

Jennifer Mee was arrested in Florida on suspicion of first degree murder along with two others arrested for the crime, according to MSNBC. 22 year old Lamont Newton worked with 20 year old Laron Raiford and 19 year old Mee. They lured Shannon Griffin someplace supposedly. He had been robbed at gunpoint by Raiford and Newton. They took all his stuff and then got in a fight with him. This led to him being shot in his upper torso several times. All three have admitted to being involved with the crime. Jennifer Mee and her accomplices are being charged under the felony murder statute, in which an accomplice to a crime which ends in murder is kept accountable for the murder also. All three might end up with the death penalty if they’re convicted.

Jennifer Mee came to national prominence as “The Hiccup Girl.”. One time, a girl ended up with hiccups for five weeks. This had been Jennifer Mee. The media caught on when she would hiccup at least 50 times a minute every day. In 2007, she appeared on the “Today Show“. She was with many others who were becoming nationally known as well. WTSP News in Tampa explains that she talked to specialists who said that it had been just Tourette’s Syndrome. The medication for Tourette’s helped her. She seemed cured.

All three defendants have admitted to being involved in the crime, and are being kept without bail. If all three are convicted, they could be sentenced to death under the felony murder statute. At least a life sentence will be what they face without a parole possibility. This is if felony murder is what they are convicted of.
