In the market for real estate? How about a three story, six bedroom Dutch Colonial with a gambrel roof? It also features a swimming pool and a boat house. The house and lot are located in small, sleepy, suburb on Long Island. It’s only a few minutes from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. It's going for $ 1.15 million. Oh, and it's the house where The Amityville Horror took place.

Yeah, The Amityville Horror
Amityville Horror, the book, focuses on the experiences of George Lutz and his wife Kathy Lutz. The couple got the vacant large Dutch Colonial on the cheap. The couple learned that the house was where Robert DeFeo Jr, shot and killed his parents and siblings. It cost the Lutzes just $ 80,000. At that price, you would never have to worry about needing payday loans to keep up with the payments. But the Lutzes left the home with their children in less than a month in terror, claiming strange occurrences tantamount to either a haunting or demonic possession in the home.
At the movies
After the incidents involving the Lutzes took place (allegedly), a book was written about the events. Since then, the accuracy of the book, The Amityville Horror, has come into question. That aside, a film was made in 1970, along with several sequels. In 2005, a remake starring Ryan Reynolds was released. After the Lutzes left, the next owner, James Cromarty and his wife, stayed in the home for more than ten years. According to him, "Nothing weird ever happened, except for people coming by because of the book and the movie."
Making a killing buying a home
You won’t read this on a National Association of Realtors bulletin, but houses where murders occur are quickly whipped into shape and put on the market at half the home’s value or less. The idea is to sell it quickly and quietly. Oh, you think I’m full of it, right? See for yourself at HousingWatch.com. You would just have to square yourself with knowing someone was killed in your living room.
