Buying a Used Car

Decide which car you want to look for

First you need to decide whether you would like a general car or a specific car. Some people look for any car that runs and other people need specific features in the car. Someone might want to be able to pull a trailer while another needs to be able to seat seven. When you decide on this then you will better know what to look for and where to check.

Speak with a banker about financing the automobile

Before you look for your car, talk to whoever is going to finance it. Don't actually make an effort to get the loan while there. You are only getting a quote for the loan right now. When big car dealers offer in house financing, it is usually with a really high interest rate. You will get a better interest rate from the bank with good credit. You will lower your expenses in the end. You may get a better idea of what you can afford to buy.

Find a car

You then should find your car. You can find your vehicle by looking at a used car shop, looking on Craigslist, or by looking in classified ads. After making an appointment to see the car you find, learn as much about it as possible. You will need to know the listing price and worth of the car. Knowing the car really well will allow you to bargain.

Call repair shops

Determine what needs repairing in the car. It would be a good idea to bring a friend who can estimate repair costs for you. If that seems impossible then call local repair shops to know how much it would cost. Take the highest estimates given to you to help you get a great deal. When you’re bargaining, bring this cost up. This will help you bargain for a cheaper price. Taking the car's value and subtracting the cost for repairs will get you a great deal. Of course you need to lowball it to start with. You’re going to get a great deal if you follow all my advice.
