Buy a Car for the First Time

Things everyone should know

Cars can cost a lot of money out of your wallet. It is really unwise to buy a car with a loan as so many young people do. I have a few tips for those of you who want to do this.

Tip Number One

Avoiding buying a new car is my first tip. A couple thousand dollars is lost just by driving off the lot. When you buy a car a few years old, you will save a lot of money. It will be more expensive and less practical to buy a new car for your first car.

Tip Number Two

The next suggestions I have for you is that you buy an old car. You are likely to rid yourself of your first car quickly. The idea is that you don't want to keep your first car very long. A good way to save money is to buy a car from the nineties instead of buying one from this year. Cars significantly drop in price when there is something wrong with it so that's what you should look for. A few years of work or college should be about how long you'll need the car to work.

The Third Tip

Remember to pay for the car in cash. Just to avoid a hassle, they will give you a bargain if you show up with cash. This will work with everything you buy. People are much more likely to sell things to you for a lower price if you have cash in your hands. Get a receipt or contract when you pay with cash. You will be protected if you can show proof of purchase.

The Fourth Thing To Do

The next tip I have is for you to save instead of taking out a loan for the car. Think about trying to take out a very small loan for the car if you take one out at all. Two things will happen for you; you will appreciate your car more and save a lot of money. It might seem ridiculously hard to try and pay back a car loan since it costs so much money. To buy your first car you need to take out as little loan as possible.

The Fifth Thing To Do

Take care of this car that you just put all this money into. Your car will probably run longer than a couple of years if you treat it right. It would be wise to change the oil and check the engine regularly. Try to keep yourself from going on too many long trips with the car. You need to keep the car clean on both the outside of it and the inside of it. All of these things will help you to have a nice, inexpensive first car that will run for a long time.
